To gather metrics for COBOL or PL/I programs, create a software
analysis configuration that implements COBOL or PL/I Software Metrics rules.
Before you begin
Before you can create an analysis configuration, you must
complete these steps:
- Open the z/OS Projects perspective.
- Create a project and add COBOL or PL/I source code files to it.
Procedure
To create a software analysis configuration:
- To open the Software Analyzer Configurations window,
on the main menu bar, click .
- In the left pane, right-click Software Analyzer and
click New.
The Scope and Rules tabs
open on the right side of the window.
- In the Name field, type a name for
the new software analysis configuration, such as COBOL
Metrics or PL/I
Metrics.
- On the Scope tab, select Analyze
entire workspace.
- On the Rules tab, select COBOL
Software Metrics or PL/I
Software Metrics.
Tip: Hover over a rule to display a description of it. You can also get
information by selecting a rule and pressing F1 or Shift+F1.
- In Analysis Domains and Rules,
expand the COBOL Software Metrics or PL/I Software Metrics domain.
- Expand a metrics category, such as Basic
Metrics.
- Select a metric, such as Lines of code.
- To set a threshold for the metric, on the Properties tab,
select Analyze with threshold, and then set
the value of any custom parameter.
- To save or undo your selections, do one of the following
actions:
- To save your analysis configuration, click Apply.
- To undo the changes since the most recent Apply,
click Revert.
- To close the software analysis configuration window, do
one of the following actions:
- To close the window and run the software analysis configuration,
click Analyze.
- To close the window without running the configuration, click Close.
