Setting colors and fonts

Use the Colors and Fonts preference to set the default font for the COBOL, JCL, PL/I, and compare editors.

About this task

The Colors and Fonts preference provides a general setting for text in an editor. To customize the colors for language elements in COBOL, JCL, and PL/I files, use the Syntax Coloring preference.

Procedure

  1. In the Preferences window, expand General > Appearance and click Colors and Fonts.
    The Colors and Fonts page contains a list of categories for which you can set colors and fonts. Included in this list are categories for COBOL, JCL, and PL/I, and Text Compare. You can use these categories to set colors and fonts for the COBOL Editor, JCL Editor, PL/I Editor, and the compare editors for each of these languages.
  2. To set colors and fonts for the COBOL Editor, JCL Editor, or PL/I Editor:
    1. Expand the category for the editor for which you want to set colors and fonts.
    2. Select one of these editors:
      • COBOL Editor Text Font
      • JCL Editor Text Font
      • PL/I Editor Text Font
    3. Click Edit.
      The Font window opens.
    4. Use the Font window to set the font, style, and size, and click OK.
      Tip: To preserve column alignment in the editor, choose a monospace font.
  3. To modify the font that is used to compare COBOL, JCL, and PL/I files:
    1. Expand Text Compare.
    2. Select one of these editors:
      • COBOL compare text font
      • JCL compare text font
      • PL/I compare text font
    3. Click Edit.
      The Font window opens.
    4. Use the Font window to set the font, style, and size, and click OK.
