Error situations that you may encounter in the mapping editor

This topic describes possible error situations that you may encounter in the mapping editor, and how to resolve these errors.

Source or target file not present

A mapping session file (request or response) contains references to the source file and the target file that you specified in the Create Mappings wizard when you created the mapping session file.

The mapping editor uses these references to read information from the source and target files.

If either of these files has been moved to another directory, or renamed, or deleted, so that the mapping editor cannot locate the file, then the mapping editor displays an error message.

To resolve this problem, restore the source file or the target file to its original location.

Note: The references in the mapping session file contain the relative paths of the source file and the target file, relative to the mapping session file. If you move the source file, the target file, and the mapping session file to another location, but their relative locations in the directory structure are the same, then the mapping editor can find the source and target files and does not display an error message.

Source or target XML schema definition or high-level-language data structure has changed

A mapping session file (request or response) contains references to the source and target XML schema definition or high-level-language data structure that you specified in the Create Mappings wizard when you created the mapping session file.

The mapping editor uses these references when you create a mapping between a source and a target.

If the source or target XML schema definition or high-level-language data structure has changed, then the mapping editor displays an error message.

To resolve this problem, use the New XML to COBOL or PL/I Mapping Session wizard recreate the mapping session file from the source file and the target file, using the file containing the new XML schema definition or high-level-language data structure.
