Adding and updating sequence numbers

If the Manage sequence numbers preference is enabled, sequence numbers can be added and updated while you edit a file.

COBOL Editor: You can use these options on the Sequence Numbers preference page to control how the Renumber editor action functions:
  • Numbering options: Use these options to insert and remove sequence numbers in the sequence number area, identification area, or both areas.
  • Preserve non-numeric change markers: Select this option to preserve non-numeric text in the sequence number area and the identification area.

Procedure

  1. Open a file in the editor.
  2. Right-click in the file to open the menu.
  3. Click Source > Sequence Numbers > Renumber.
    If the file does not contain sequence numbers, they are added. If the file already contains sequence numbers, the numbers are overwritten.
