Choosing an autocomment language profile

Before you can use the autocomment feature, you must specify a language profile.

About this task

A language profile stores the values for all of the options available with the autocomment feature. Each language profile defines the comment syntax for the target programming language. The default language profiles provided with the autocomment feature include language profiles to support the following types of files:
  • HLASM - assembler files
  • C - C files
  • CPP - C++ files
  • BUILD - build script files
  • PLI - PL/I files
  • ST - SabreTalk files
  • JAVA - Java™ files
  • COBOL - COBOL files

Procedure

If you will be working with any of these supported languages, it is recommended that you attempt to use one of the existing language profiles; you can edit any of these profiles to customize the options for your specific requirements. If you are working with a language for which a language profile does not exist, do one of the following tasks:

  • Create a new profile for the language that you want to use.
  • Choose an existing language profile (that is similar to the language you are using), and then edit that profile to customize the options for your specific requirements.
