Package names in response files

When you update the Developer for z/OS® product by using push-to-client, a package name is required in the response file. All users whose product installations are to be updated by using push-to-client must install the Developer for z/OS product under the same package name that is used in the response file.

When you attempt to install a product update by using push-to-client, users receive the following error messages:

  • In an IBM® Installation Manager command window:
    ERROR: Cannot satisfy dependency
  • In the update log file workspace/.metadata/.plugins/com.ibm.ftt.resources.zos/responseFileName.log:
     Installing PackageName is not allowed in this package group; it is not compatible with installedPackageName. It may be installed in a different package group.

The response file for a product installation that is automated by using push-to-client records the package name under which the Developer for z/OS product is installed. This package name must match the package under which users installed the Developer for z/OS product. All users whose product installations are updated by using push-to-client must install the Developer for z/OS product under the same package name as the one recorded in the response file.
