You can create a new file in a directory in your z/OS Unix
file system using the z/OS® Explorer.
Before you begin
Ensure that you are in the z/OS perspective.
Ensure
that you are connected to an FTP server on your host system. For more

About this task
This task creates a new file in a directory in a z/OS
Unix file system.
Procedure
- Navigate to the directory where you want to create the
new file. Right-click the directory name and click New
File. The New z/OS file dialog opens
showing the contents of the selected directory. You can overtype the
directory name, but you must enter a directory that already exists.
- Type the new file name in the New directory
name field. Click Finish.
What to do next
The dialog closes and the new file is created in the directory
and displayed in the z/OS Unix files view.
