Accessing SCMs using CARMA

The Common Access Repository Manager (CARMA) toolkit for Developer for z/OS® facilitates customer access to SCMs from within Developer for z/OS by providing a common interface for accessing SCMs.

To leverage this common access framework, a CARMA client (such as Developer for z/OS, when enhanced by the CARMA plug-in) must connect to a CARMA host, which manages SCM access using repository access managers (RAMs). RAMs are host-resident modules that help the CARMA host system communicate with individual SCMs. In order to access a given SCM through CARMA, the CARMA host must first have the appropriate RAM installed on it. CARMA currently ships with four sample RAMs: the PDS RAM, SCLM RAM, COBOL RAM, and skeleton RAM. Access to other SCMs through CARMA can be achieved if the appropriate RAM is obtained or developed.

Note: The sample RAMs are provided for testing the configuration of your CARMA environment. These RAMs are NOT supported in a production-level environment.
