Setting the CICS level for COBOL and PL/I programs

You can set the level of CICS® in use at your installation to aid more accurate content assistance and syntax checking.

About this task

When you set the level of CICS in use at your installation, you can take advantage of release-specific content assistance and syntax checking for your COBOL and PL/I programs. The Developer for z/OS® product uses the CICS level that you specify to do the following operations:
  • Set compiler options specific to the release of CICS in use at your installation. These options are used for local syntax checking.
Attention: Local syntax check is deprecated.
  • Provide release-specific content assistance in the z Systems® LPEX Editor.

Procedure

To set the level of CICS in use at your installation:

  1. Open COBOL Settings properties or PL/I Settings properties page.
  2. Click Use CICS.
  3. From the list, select the level of CICS.
