You can create a copy of an existing action by using the
Menu Manager.
About this task
To modify an existing action that is provided by IBM® or your administrator, create
a copy of the action and apply your changes to the copy. You can specify
that you want the copy to override the original action by editing
the copied version of the action.
Procedure
To create a copy of an action, complete the following
steps:

Click Window (on Windows) or IBM Developer for z/OS®
(on macOS) > .
The Preferences window opens.
- In the Preferences window,
double-click Menu Manager, and select Actions
and Menus.
The Actions and
Menus preference window opens.
- In the Actions tab, right-click
the action that you want to copy.
- Select Create New Copy
The Copy Action wizard opens.
- In the New Name field, type the
name that you want to display for the copy of the action.
- In the Storage Options section,
do one of the following steps:
- To store the copy of the action in an existing action
file:
- Click Choose from Available Files.
- From the list, select the existing action file in which you want
to store the copy of the action.
Tip: Do not modify any of the action files that are supplied by IBM. Instead, save the copy of the action in your own action file.
- To create an action file in which to store the copy
of the action:
- Click Create a New File.
- In the Location field, type the location
where you want to create the action file or to browse for the location,
click Browse.
- Optional: To open the file that contains the
copy of the action after the copy is created, select Open
the selected file.
- Optional: To override the existing action with
the copy that is being created, select Override original
action.
- Click Finish.
Results
The copy of the action is added to the Actions tab
of the Actions and Menus preference page.
