Installing the IBM Developer for z/OS client by using P2

To install the IBM® Developer for z/OS® client by using the Eclipse P2 provisioning platform, do these steps. If you installed an earlier version of the IBM Developer for z/OS client, you must run a new P2 installation of IBM Developer for z/OS version 16.0.
  1. To verify that you meet all installation prerequisites and compatibility requirements, go to the Software Product Compatibility Reports.
  2. Open a browser on the Mainframe DEV Downloads page. If you are prompted with a notice that you are leaving the ibm.com® website, click the link in the notice.
  3. In the IBM Explorer for z/OS Aqua box, click Eclipse Tools. You might need to click > or < to scroll the box into view.
  4. Under Step 1: choose your products, select the check box beside IBM Developer for z/OS and click Select.
  5. Continue to follow the instructions in the wizard prompts to choose an Aqua version, the Eclipse P2 installation client, and a starting point.
    Tip:
    • To see which product versions each version of Aqua supports, click View details.
    • To return to a previous step in the wizard, click the step in the sidebar. Do not use the browser Back control. The Back control returns to the Mainframe DEV Downloads page.

    After you select an Aqua version, the Eclipse P2 installation client, and a starting point, the installation wizard guides you through the steps to download and install the client. These instructions vary according to whether you are:
    • Installing Eclipse for the first time.
    • Extending an existing Eclipse instance.
    • Hosting an internal P2 repository that other users in your organization can use to install the product.
  6. Follow the instructions on the Download and install page to:
    • Choose a client platform (Windows, macOS, or Linux®)
    • Download an installation package
    • Copy a link to an installation repository
    • Install the product or set up an internal repository
    The license agreement opens in a new web page.
  7. Read the terms of the license agreements and click I agree. The client installation package is downloaded to the default download location of your workstation.
  8. Return to the Download and install page to complete the installation procedure described in the wizard.
