Creating a custom file menu

You can use the Menu Manager to create a custom file menu.

Procedure

To create a custom file menu, complete the following steps:

  1. Click Window (on Windows) or IBM® Developer for z/OS® (on macOS) > Preferences.
    The Preferences window opens.
  2. In the Preferences window, double-click Menu Manager, and select Actions and Menus.
    The Actions and Menus preference window opens.
  3. In the Actions and Menus window, complete the following steps:
    1. To select the file to create the menu in, do one of the following steps:
      • From the File Selection list, select the file that you want to create the menu in.
      • To create a file for the menu, click New.
      • To import a file for the menu, click Import.
      Remember: You can create a file menu only in a file that contains action and menu definitions that apply to files. The icon beside the File Selection list indicates whether the file contains action and menu definitions that apply to projects and subprojects, to data sets, or to files.
    2. In the Menus page of the Actions and Menus notebook, click New Menu
      The New Menu wizard opens.
  4. In the Name field, type the name of the menu that you want to add to the pop-up menu, and then click Next
  5. On the Add Actions page, select the check box for each action that you want to add to the menu, or, to select all of the available action elements, click Select All.
    Tip: If the list of actions does not contain the specific action that you want to add to the menu, click New Simple Action to create a simple action, or click New Complex Action to create a complex action. If you want to edit one of the actions in this list, select the action, and then click Edit.
  6. To proceed to the Add Menus page, click Next.
  7. Select the check box for each menu that you want to add to the existing menu, or, to select all of the available menu elements, click Select All.
  8. Click Finish.

Results

The menu is added to the Menus tab of the Actions and Menus preference window.
