Saving changes to the working flow

This topic describes how to save a change that you have made to the current working flow.

When you modify the current working flow or an artifact used by the current working flow (such as a message or a mapping routine) the host editor does not automatically incorporate this modification into the currently loaded flow until you save the modification and reload the working flow. (This is a safeguard to protect you from accidentally adding modifications to the currently loaded flow.)

The modified item can be almost any artifact used by a flow, including:
  • The interface operation for the flow (operations editor)
  • Messages and message elements (flow message editor)
  • Mappings, mapping routines, and mapping files (mapping editor)
  • Nodes, connections, and the association of an interface operation with the flow (flow editor).
  • New recorded material (host editor)
Note: Thus even when you have completed a flow recording or a screen operations recording, the newly recorded material is not automatically merged into the current working flow.
  • Screen messages (screen message editor)

To incorporate such modifications into the working flow:

  1. Save the modification to the workstation's file system:

    1. In the editor in which you have made the modification, save the contents of the editor to the workstation's file system by pressing Ctrl-S or by selecting File > Save.

    2. If you launched the editor in the previous step from some other editor, then also save the contents of the launching editor. (For example, if you launch the mapping editor from the flow editor, you should also save the contents of the flow editor.)

  2. In the host editor click the Save Flow icon Save Flow to save the contents of the current working flow.

  3. In the host editor click the Load Flow icon Load Flow.

The host editor reloads the contents of the working flow from the saved files on the workstation's file system.
