Time range and interval settings
These settings allow you to focus on specific periods and adjust how time-based data is grouped. You can configure the dashboard time range for overall context, and adjust chart intervals or chart-specific time ranges to support monitoring or trend analysis.
Setting the time range for a dashboard
The dashboard time range defines the period of data shown across all charts and KPIs on that dashboard. This setting applies only to the current view and is not saved as part of the dashboard’s configuration.
To set the dashboard time range:
- Open the dashboard that you want to view.
- Click the Time range icon
in the dashboard toolbar.
- Under the Sliding range option, choose a predefined range such as Last 15 minutes, Last 1 hour, or Last 24 hours.
- To define a custom period, select the Fixed date option and specify the start and end date and time.
- Click Apply changes to update the dashboard with the selected time range.
Overriding the dashboard time range in a chart
Charts use the dashboard time range by default. You can override this behavior when a specific chart needs to display data for a different period.
To set a chart-specific time range:
- From the chart’s overflow menu
, select Edit.
- In the Filters tab, locate the Time range section.
- Enable Override the dashboard time range in this chart.
- Select the time range that you want the chart to use.
- Click Done to save the chart.
When a chart uses its own time range, it does not update when the dashboard time range changes.
Setting the interval for a time-based chart
Charts based on period metrics or period KPIs can display data using different time intervals. Adjusting the interval helps you control the granularity of the information shown.
To configure the chart interval:
- From the chart’s overflow menu
, select Edit.
- In the Monitoring tab, use the Interval section to set the time interval.
- Select the interval you want to use. Choose a predefined option such as Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, or Yearly, or define a custom interval by specifying a value and selecting the unit (for example, Every 15 Minute(s)).
- Preview the chart and click Done to save your changes.
