Setting alerts

You can set alerts on period KPI charts to receive notifications when performance values meet or fail to meet a defined threshold. Alerts help you react quickly when decision behavior deviates from expectations. Only the dashboard owner can create, edit, or delete alerts, and only the owner receives alert notifications.

Before you begin

A threshold must exist for the period KPI. The Alerts option is available only after you define at least one threshold on the chart.

Procedure

  1. Open the dashboard that contains the period KPI chart.
  2. From the chart’s overflow menu Open and close the list of options., select Edit.
  3. Go to the Thresholds tab. If no threshold exists, add one first.
  4. In the Alerts section, click the Add icon icon to create an alert.
  5. Select an alert condition. You can trigger an alert when the period KPI value:
    • is equal to or greater than the threshold value
    • does not reach the threshold value within a specified time period
    • drops to or below the threshold value
    • does not drop to or below the threshold value within a specified time period
  6. Select a priority: Low, Medium, or High.
  7. Enter a short message that explains what the alert means.
  8. Click Done, then save the chart and the dashboard.
  9. To remove all alerts for the dashboard, click the Alerts icon Alerts iconto open the Alerts side pane, then click Clear All.

Results

When a chart meets the alert condition, your browser displays a notification. Your browser must remain open to receive notifications. You can view the list of triggered alerts directly from the dashboard.

Changing a threshold affects future alerts only and does not recalculate past alert results.
