Installing the IBM Debug for z/OS Eclipse IDE with p2

You can find the step-by-step instructions for using the AQUA update site to install IBM® Debug for z/OS® with Eclipse p2.

Before you begin

The IBM Debug for z/OS p2 package requires Eclipse V4.23 and IBM Explorer for z/OS V3.3. This installation uses an online update site and requires internet access.

Before you install IBM Debug for z/OS, ensure that the p2 package for IBM Explorer for z/OS V3.3 is installed. To download the IBM Explorer for z/OS p2 package, go to the AQUA downloads website. You can also find additional instructions about different variations for installing IBM Debug for z/OS at this site.

Procedure

  1. Start IBM Explorer for z/OS.
  2. Configure the AQUA update site.
    You can skip this step if it is already configured.
    1. From the main menu bar, select Windows > Preferences.
    2. In the Preferences window, select Install/Update>Available Software Sites.
    3. Click Add.
      The Add Site window opens.
      1. In the Name field, enter AQUA.
      2. In the Location field, specify the following URL: 
        https://public.dhe.ibm.com/ibmdl/export/pub/software/htp/zos/tools/aqua3.3/
      3. Click OK to add the site.
    4. Click OK to save preferences.
  3. From the main menu bar, select Help > Install New Software.
  4. In the Install window, select the AQUA update site.

  5. Select the desired IBM Debug for z/OS features and click Next to proceed.

    Note: If a feature is selected, its prerequisites will be automatically installed even though they are not selected. For example, if you select IBM z/OS Debugger Line-level Code Coverage, IBM z/OS Debugger Remote Debug and IBM z/OS Debugger Launch Configurations will also be installed.
  6. Review the installation details, and click Next to proceed.

  7. Review and accept the licenses.

  8. Click Finish to install selected items. The installation window is dismissed and installation begins.
    If you are prompted with a message that indicates unsigned content, click Select All, then click Trust Selected to accept and install. Clicking Cancel terminates the request without installing.

  9. When the installation is complete, you are prompted to restart IBM Explorer for z/OS to access IBM Debug for z/OS features. Click Yes to restart.
