Alerts

Displays a non-intrusive alert when a condition you specify is met. For example, when a user enters a value that's greater than a specified limit. You can configure the alert to close when clicked, closed, or timed out.

The Alerts view is a listener and the alerts are sent using the bpmext.ui.alert() method. An alert automatically closes based on the Default auto close delay configuration option, which means that you don't need to manually close the alert. However, you can choose to close the alert manually at any time.

Configuration properties

Under Configuration, set or modify the appearance and behavior properties for the view.

Screen size
A configuration property that has the Screen Sizes icon The Screen Sizes icon beside the property name can have different values for each screen size. If you do not set a value, the screen size inherits the value of the next larger screen size as its default value.
Theme definitions
Theme definitions specify the colors and styles for a view and determine its appearance. You can preview the look and feel of views in the theme editor. See Themes.
The appearance configuration properties for Alerts are shown in the following table:

Table 2. Behavior configuration properties for Alerts
Behavior configuration property Description Data type
Alert topic Specifies the topics that the view should listen for. Use the wild card asterisk character (*) to listen for alerts with unspecified topics. This is the default setting. When no topics are specified, the alert will listen for all unspecified topics, which is the same as specifying the wild card character as the alert topic. String(List)
Default auto close delay Specifies the number of milliseconds each alert is displayed before closing. By default, no value is specified. If a value of 0 is specified, the alert will not close. Integer

Events

Set or modify the event handlers for the view in the Events properties. You can set events to be triggered programmatically or when a user interacts with the view. For information about how to define and code events, see User-defined events. Alerts has the following types of event handlers:
  • On alert Click: Activated when an alert is clicked. For example:

    ${WarningNavigationEvent}.fire()

  • On alert close: Activated when an alert is closed. For example:

    me.ui.invoke("addNotif", item)

  • On alert expired: Activated when the time duration specified for the Default auto close delay property expires. For example:

    me.ui.invoke("addNotif", item)

Depending on the specific event, you can use JavaScript logic to modify the effects of the view. More information on using events with views is found in the topic User-defined events.
