Choosing a design tool for processes and process apps

Workflow Center is the starting place for designing processes and process apps with direct access to Process Designer. However, you might also have Integration Designer installed. So, which tool should you use?

Important: The tools and the functions that are available in your cloud subscription are based on the functionality in the equivalent on premise product. The topics that are linked to here are in the documentation for the on-premise product.

Process Designer

The web Process Designer available from Workflow Center is the primary process design and modeling tool.

Process applications that are developed in Process Designer can at any time be run on the Workflow Center server or saved to a snapshot and deployed on the Workflow Server. The same is true of services that are developed in Integration Designer and associated with process applications.

Integration Designer

Use Integration Designer for designing complex automated services, such as SCA modules, mediations, and BPEL processes. At run time, these services generally run without human intervention.
Attention: Integration Designer might not be available in your Business Automation Workflow on Cloud subscription. If you'd like to use it, submit a request through the IBM® Support External link opens a new window or tab site.
