Activating replication using the console

To begin replicating data on Db2® Warehouse on Cloud, you need to activate the replication process. Note that all source and target servers must have replication activated.

About this task

When you activate replication:

  • Db2 settings are changed to provide necessary replication information in the database recovery logs.
  • Message queues and other IBM MQ objects are enabled as the data transport method between the source and targets.
  • Metadata tables are created to store your preferences and keep track of replicated data.
  • The queue manager, capture process, and replication REST server are started.
Important: Replication must be activated on the target before a system can be added as a target for replication.

Procedure

To activate replication, perform the following steps on the web console for both the target and source system:

  1. On the web console, click Administration > Replication.
  2. Choose your connection type by selecting either the Private or Public connection type.
  3. Click Activate Replication.

Results

After replication is activated, wait an additional 45 minutes for the replication deployment and storage provisioning process to complete in the background.

Create a replication set.
