The IBM® Database Add-Ins for Visual Studio simplify the process of creating and modifying database views. With the IBM View Designer, you provide information about the view, specify the CREATE VIEW SQL statement, and specify triggers, access privileges, and script options for the view.
To open the IBM View Designer:
- If you want to create a database view, in the Server Explorer, right-click Views under your data connection, and then select Add New View with Designer on the shortcut menu.
- If you want to modify a database view, in the Server Explorer under your data connection, right-click the view that you want to change, and then select Open Definition on the shortcut menu.

Use the buttons on the IBM View Designer toolbar to move from designer view to designer view and to perform actions on the database view.

Privileges view
- Runs the SQL statement in the
view definition (active only for new database views)
- Checks the syntax of the SQL
statement in the view definition (active only for new database views)
- Moves to the
Show Script view
