Migrating a workload management scheme

You can migrate the workload management schemes that you create in the Design Studio of InfoSphere™ Warehouse, Version 9.5.x to the new Web version of InfoSphere Warehouse Workload Manager, V9.7.
You can use the Design Studio in InfoSphere Warehouse to migrate workload management schemes from InfoSphere Warehouse Workload Manager, V9.5.x to InfoSphere Warehouse Workload Manager, V9.7 in the following scenarios:
  • When you do a full migration from InfoSphere Warehouse, V9.5.x to InfoSphere Warehouse, V9.7.
  • When InfoSphere Warehouse, V9.7 is installed with existing installations of DB2®, V9.5 and the WebSphere® Application Server, V6.1.0.23 or higher.
  • When InfoSphere Warehouse, V9.7 is installed with an existing installation of DB2, V9.5 and a new installation of the WebSphere Application Server, V7.

Before you begin

Before you migrate a workload management scheme, read and follow this information:

About this task

A scheme that you create in the Design Studio of InfoSphere Warehouse Workload Manager, V9.5.x includes arbitrary service classes, thresholds, work action sets, and other objects. InfoSphere Warehouse Workload Manager, V9.7 is a simplified version that can use only a subset of these objects. The remainder of these objects are incompatible with InfoSphere Warehouse Workload Manager, V9.7.

When you migrate a workload management scheme from InfoSphere Warehouse Workload Manager, V9.5.x, InfoSphere Warehouse Workload Manager, V9.7 discards most of the scheme and uses the workload definitions, which it also modifies to make them compatible.

Procedure

To migrate a workload management scheme to InfoSphere Warehouse Workload Manager, V9.7:

  1. Start InfoSphere Warehouse Workload Manager, V9.7 and open the scheme that you deployed.
    1. From the Manage Connections tab, create a connection profile for the database to which you deployed the workload management scheme.
    2. From the Workload Manager tab, connect to that database.
    3. Accept the list of changes that Workload Manager displays, and will make to the migrated objects when you run the configuration.
  2. Save the new configuration.

Now you can work with the migrated and altered workloads in InfoSphere Warehouse Workload Manager, V9.7.
