Installing the client for the command line interface

The client is installed as an feature option through the installation of the InfoSphere™ Warehouse Design Studio. The client uses this interface to communicate with the existing backend providers when you issue a command.
Before you begin: InfoSphere Warehouse Administration Console must already be installed and configured on a server. The command line client and the Administration Console are typically installed on different machines. Administrator access to the WebSphere® administrative console is required.

Procedure: To install the client for the command line interface:

  1. Verify that the administration commands were installed along with the Warehouse client. The files are located in the whcommand subdirectory of the directory where Warehouse was installed.
    1. Open a command shell and navigate to install_dir/whcommand/bin.
    2. Invoke the command line help: help. A list of available commands should be displayed.
    3. Connect to the Warehouse Administration command line server by using the connect command.
If both tests complete successfully, then the command line client has been successfully installed and configured.
  2. Add the directory containing the executable files to your current PATH definition to complete the installation:
    • Windows install_dir\whcommand\bin
    • LinuxUNIX install_dir/whcommand/bin
