Rebalancing a replicated file system

You can rebalance data in file system when IBM Storage Scale detects a problem after disks are added or removed disks from the file system. Rebalancing file system might be required when data is replicated across redundancy groups. An unbalanced alert is raised if a rebalance is recommended. Use db2instance -list to verify if an alert has been raised. Rebalancing of data can be I/O intensive and the duration depends on the size of data. Therefore, it is recommended to run them at off-peak usage hours.

Before you begin

  • To perform this task, you must be a user in the SYSADM, SYSCTL, or SYSMAINT group.

Procedure

Run the following command for each file system to rebalance data.
db2cluster -cfs -rebalance -filesystem <fs name>
