Configuring access to Oracle data sources
To configure a federated system to access Oracle data sources, you must provide the federated system with information about the data sources and objects that you want to access.
Before you begin
- The Oracle client software must be installed and configured on the server that acts as the federated server.
- Federation must be installed on a server that acts as the federated server.
- Check the setup of the federated server.
- Check the federated parameter to ensure that federation is enabled.
Procedure
- Set the Oracle environment variables.
- Set up and test the Oracle client configuration file. This step is required only if you intend to use the NODE server option to connect to the remote database. If you instead plan to use the HOST, PORT, and SERVICE_NAME server options, skip this step.
- Register the Oracle wrapper.
- Register the server definitions for an Oracle data source.
- Create the user mappings.
- Test the connection to the Oracle server.
- Register the nicknames.
