Installing the Datalake table feature for Db2 software (non-containerized)
You can install the Datalake feature component for Db2 software (non-containerized) after installing the Db2 server. The Db2 Datalake feature lets you query and manage data stored in open file formats, like Parquet or ORC, directly from Db2 without loading it into the database.
Before you begin
Note: In Db2 versions 12.1.4 and 12.1.5, the Datalake table feature is not
supported when using Oracle compatibility.
Before you begin, ensure you have the following user authorities:
- Root user access.
- Db2 instance owner access.
About this task
The Datalake feature for Db2 requires a separate component that extends the Db2 installation with additional binaries and configuration files. This component must be installed after the standard Db2 server installation and must be enabled at the Db2 instance level before you can create or use Datalake tables. For more information on Datalake tables, see Datalake tables.
