What's new in Db2 or Db2 Warehouse 12.1.4 for Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes

Db2 or Db2 Warehouse for Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes is enhanced for the 12.1.4 release.

Important: Db2uCluster Custom Resource is deprecated and will be discontinued in a future release. As a resolution, migrate from Db2uCluster to Db2uInstance. To migrate to Db2uInstance, perform a Db2 native backup on your Db2uCluster instance and then restore to a new Db2uInstance. For more information on this procedure, see Backing up a Db2 or Db2 Warehouse database offline and Restoring Db2 or Db2 Warehouse from an offline backup.
Db2U Next Generation
The Db2U Next Generation preview for Db2 and Db2 Warehouse on Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes is enhanced for the 12.1.4 release. Db2U Next Gen is a modernized version of the Db2 Universal Operator. It replaces the legacy Operator Lifecycle Manager (OLM) with a Helm-based, GitOps-compatible installation model, offering a streamlined experience that better aligns with Kubernetes-native deployment practices. The 12.1.4 preview introduces support for the restricted-v2 security context constraint (SCC) and horizontal scaling. For more information, see Db2U Next Generation.
12.1.4
The following enhancements are available with the release of Db2 12.1.4:
  • Backup and restore support is enhanced with the addition of OpenShift API for Data Protection (OADP) and Velero. This capability uses the db2u‑velero‑plugin, which preserves Db2 credentials and configuration so that restored deployments remain fully functional. For more information, see OpenShift API for Data Protection backup and restore capabilities.
