Highlights of Db2 12.1.2

Db2 12.1.2 offers enhancements in the areas of vector data storage and analysis, AI-assisted querying, database security, and remote storage support.

Vector support for AI semantic search

Vectors are mathematical representations of structured and unstructured input data that are vital to modern artificial intelligence (AI) applications and semantic search capabilities. With the release of Db2® 12.1.2, you can now import vector data into Db2 and convert that data to a format that can be queried with SQL statements. For more information, see Vector values.

New supported Linux distribution

Db2 now supports Amazon Linux 2023 as a platform.

Enhanced AI Query Optimizer

The IS NULL predicate is now eligible for AI Query Optimizer model usage when calculating the combined selectivity with other eligible predicates. This enhancement decreases model training time and improves the performance of the AI Query Optimizer model. For more information, see Predicate selectivity estimation prediction.

Native Cloud Object Storage on Azure BLOB Storage for Db2 Warehouse

With the release of Db2 12.1.2, the remote storage feature provides access to Microsoft Azure binary large object (BLOB) storage on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9.4 running on x86-64 systems. For more information, see Remote storage requirements

Security enhancements

Db2 12.1.2 provides Mask at Read enhancements and the removal of world writable permissions through the use of an operating system group. Also, Db2 pureScale now supports topology changes through database upgrades, for an easier upgrade to Db2 12.1.
