Monitoring InfoSphere CDC subscriptions

You can use the IBM® InfoSphere CDC Management Console to monitor your InfoSphere CDC subscription. This tool supports the monitoring of replication operations and latencies, the collection of various statistics about source and target datastores, and event detection and notification.

Before you begin

  • Ensure that you can log in to the InfoSphere CDC Management Console as access-server-user.
  • Ensure that you have access to the datastore for your shadow tables. The datastore must have an active subscription and one or more table mappings.

Procedure

To monitor InfoSphere CDC subscriptions:

  1. Log in to the InfoSphere CDC Management Console as access-server-user.
  2. Select Monitoring > Subscriptions.
The Subscription view shows the status of your subscription, which should be in mirroring mode.
  3. Click Collect Statistics.
The bottom section of the Subscription view displays a summary of latency, replication activity and events.
    • Double-click the latency area to display detailed replication latency information for the current subscription.
    • Double-click the Activity area to display detailed information about mirroring or refresh activity. The activity charts show the amount of data in bytes or the number of apply operations that are being processed by InfoSphere CDC.
    • Double-click the Events area to see a sortable view of subscription events.

What to do next

  • Set notifications for your datastore and subscription to receive alerts about any problems with the replication for your shadow tables.
  • Fine-tune the performance of your database system for the use shadow tables.
