Compound terms

A compound word is a combination of two or more words into a single word. Compound words in a query are broken up into the individual terms that make up the compound. However, even if such an individual term is defined in a stop word list, the compound word will not be removed from the query.

For example, if the word Police is listed in the stop word dictionary for German, the term Versicherungspolice (insurance policy) will not be removed from the query. It will also return documents that contain the compound terms Lebensversicherungspolice (life insurance policy) and Haftpflichtversicherungspolice (third party insurance policy).
