IBM Database Add-Ins for Visual Studio

Exporting Data from Tables and Views

With the IBM® Database Add-Ins for Visual Studio, you can export data from an IBM database table or view to a file. You can specify one of the following file types for the exported data:

For a DB2 database If the data that you want to export contains one or more columns of XML data, the export file type that you select determines how the data is exported.

For a DB2 database For an IDS database After you export table data or view data to a file, you can import the data to a different table or view, or use the data in an external application.

Requirement:  The data that you want to export must be retrieved from the table or the view and displayed in the IBM Data Designer. For detailed steps on this process, see Retrieving Data from Tables and Views.

To export data from a table or view:

  1. In the Data view of the IBM Data Designer, click Export.
  2. In the Save As window, specify the directory in which you want to save the file, type a name for the file, select the file type, and then click Save.

The data that is displayed in the Result Data section of the Data view is saved in the directory and file that you specified, with the format that you selected.
