Creating and Deploying IBM Data Web Services (DB2)

The IBM^® Database Add-Ins for Visual Studio simplify the process of creating, deploying, and testing IBM data Web services. You can use the IBM Data Web Service Designer to create, modify, and deploy Web services.

You can deploy a Web service to the default local Web server, as defined in the Advanced Options window. You can also select a specific Web server in the Advanced Options window to deploy a Web service to.

Prerequisite: Before you can deploy IBM data Web services, you must configure at least one local Web server connection for the deployment. If you have not configured a Web server connection prior to opening the designer, the Advanced Options window opens so that you can do so.

To create and deploy an IBM data Web service:

In the Server Explorer under your data connection, perform one of the following steps:
- To create a Web service from a database object, right-click a database table, view, procedure, or function, and then select Create and Deploy as IBM Data Web Service on the shortcut menu.
- Right-click Web Services, and then select Create and Deploy IBM Data Web Service on the shortcut menu.
The IBM Data Web Service Designer opens.
If the Advanced Options window is open, configure a Web server connection to deploy data Web services to.
Use the views in the designer to define the Web service.

Save the Web service definition. From the File menu, select Save.
The Web service is created in the database and deployed to either your selected local Web server or the default local Web server.
Close the designer.

The data Web service is shown in the Web Services folder of your data connection in the Server Explorer.

If the Open Invoke Web Service Method dialog box after deployment option is selected in the Advanced Options window, the dialog box opens so that you can run an operation in the Web service.
