Importing BLOB Data to Tables and Views

If a table or view in your IBM database is defined with one or more columns of data type BLOB, you can use the IBM® Data Designer to import BLOB data to rows of the table or view.

The BLOB data that you want to import must be one of the following MIME types:

BMP XML ICO XLS
DIB JPEG PDF XML
DOC JPG TIF XSD

Requirement:  The IBM database table or view must be defined with one or more columns of data type BLOB.

To import BLOB data to a table or view:

  1. Retrieve the data from the table or view.
  2. In the Result Data section of the designer, click the cell in the grid to which you want to import BLOB data, and then click Ellipsis button.

    The BLOB Visualizer window opens.

  3. Click Open File, and then browse to and select the file that contains the BLOB data to import.

    The contents of the imported file are displayed in the Value field.

  4. Click OK in the HTML Visualizer window.
  5. In the Data view of the designer, save the data.
