Remote storage

Remote storage is a type of storage that is managed by an external service and is accessed through a non-filesystem interface. This is in contrast to storage that is accessible through a local filesystem that can be accessed directly by the operating system.

Remote storage has additional requirements and limitations, For more information, see Remote storage requirements.

Remote storage is defined via storage access aliases which provide a secure mechanism for storing access credentials and other properties of the remote storage. For more information, see CATALOG STORAGE ACCESS command.

Remote storage is accessed by many Db2 commands using these storage access aliases via DB2REMOTE identifiers.
