IBM Database Add-Ins for Visual Studio

Registering XML Schemas in the XML Schema Repository  (DB2)

If you plan to store XML documents as data in columns of your DB2® database tables, you can use XML schemas to validate the XML data and to generate sample XML data. An XML schema that you want to use for validation or sample generation must be registered in the XML Schema Repository (XSR).

Requirements:

To register an XML schema in the XML Schema Repository:

  1. In the Server Explorer, right-click XML Schema Repository under your data connection, and then select Register XML Schema on the shortcut menu.

    The IBM XSR Designer opens.

  2. Use the view in the designer to specify the information for storing the XML schema in your database.

For detailed information about the fields in the designer view, see XSR Registration, Designer.

  3. Save the XML schema registration. From the File menu, select Save [schema registration name].

The XML schema is registered in the XML Schema Repository and stored in the database schema that you specified.

  4. Close the designer.
