Installation and upgrade enhancements

11.5.5 includes enhancements that make it faster to deploy products and easier to maintain them.

Attention: Db2 pureScale® features included in Db2 11.5.5 are available for non-containerized systems only.

Enhancement Description
Concurrent online fix pack update

Users can now apply fix pack updates online on multiple hosts at the same time (in parallel).

With this new capability, every cluster, regardless of its size, can be updated with in just two steps. For example:
  • Step 1: Apply the fix pack update online on the secondary CF and half of the members at the same time.
  • Step 2: Apply the fix pack update online on the primary CF and the rest of the members that have not been updated yet at the same time.
Restriction: The maximum number of nodes you can apply in one single update cannot exceed more than half of the hosts. For example: If you have 4 members and 2 CFs, you can not apply the fix pack update online on 3 members and 1 CF at the same time. The maximum number of nodes in this case is you can apply fix pack update online on 2 members and 1 CF at the same time.
