Selecting XML Schemas to Annotate  (DB2)

To define the association between elements and attributes in an XML schema and columns in relational database tables, you must select an XML schema document (XSD). You can select an XML schema that is registered in the XML Schema Repository (XSR) or an XML schema document that is in your file system.

Requirement:  An instance of the IBM XML Schema Mapping Designer must be open, with no XML schema displayed in the Source XML schema pane.

To select an XML schema to annotate:

  1. Right-click in the Mapping Editor section of the Annotated XML Schema view of the designer, and then select Add XSD Source on the shortcut menu.

    The Select XML Schema Source window opens.

  2. Select the XML schema document that you want to use as the source.
    • To select an XML schema that is registered in the XML Schema Respository, click Use registered XML schema, select the database schema in which the XML schema is stored, and then select the XML schema.
    • To select an XML document it the file system, click Use document from file, click Ellipsis button, and then browse to and select an XML schema file in your file system.
  3. Click OK.

    The XML schema that you selected opens in the Source XML schema pane of the Annotated XML Schema view.
