New Data Preparation Input Model wizard

With the New Data Preparation Input Model wizard, you can create a data preparation input model from scratch or you can import a Cubing Services cube model.

To open the New Data Preparation Input Model wizard, expand the Data Preparation folder in a data warehousing project, right-click the Input Models folder, and select New > Data Preparation Input Model.

The wizard guides you through the following pages:

Project Selection and Input Model Name Specification

On the Project Selection and Input Model Name Specification page of the New Data Preparation Input Model wizard, you can select a data warehousing project, specify a name for the input model, and select an SQL execution database type. The input model is saved in the selected data warehousing project.

If required, you can later copy the input model and paste it into a different data warehousing project.

Model Import and Data Source Type Selection

If Cubing Services cube models are available, you can import a cube model that matches the selected SQL execution database type on the Model Import and Data Source Type Selection page of the New Data Preparation Input Model wizard. You can also create an empty input model and define the required parameters.

Cubing Services is not available unless it was already installed on your system before upgrading to or installing Data warehousing in Db2, Version 10.5.4. If you do not have Cubing Services installed, you till see the option Import a Cubing Services cube model, but it does not work. Instead, you can use Cognos® Dynamic Cubes. For more information, see Cognos Dynamic Cubes overview

You need to define the type of the data source for the input model. The data source can be a database connection or a physical model.

Select Connection

On the Select Connection page, you can select the database connection to be used as data source for your input model. You can also edit or delete existing connections, and you can create new connections.

In the Properties section, you can view the properties of the selected connection.

You might have to provide your user ID and your password to connect to the database.

Physical Data Model Selection

On the Physical Data Model Selection page, you can select the physical data model to be used as data source for your input model.

After clicking Finish, the new input model is added to the Input Models subfolder of the Data Preparation folder in the selected data warehousing project.
