DB2 Version 10.1 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows

db2_install command has been deprecated (Linux and UNIX)

The db2_install command has been deprecated and might be removed in a future release. Start using the db2setup command instead.

Details

The db2_install command has been deprecated because it provides the same functionality as the db2setup command with a response file. In addition, the db2setup command allows you to create and configure instances during the installation process.

Resolution

If you issue the db2_install command, a warning message will be returned indicating that the command is deprecated and then it proceeds with the installation as in previous releases.

Although the db2_install command is still supported, start using the db2setup command with a response file to do silent installs before the db2_install command becomes discontinue. Also, change references to the db2_install command in installation scripts to use the db2setup command with a response file.

If you want the db2setup command behave the same as the db2_install command, issue the db2setup command with a response file that includes following keywords:
PROD = ENTERPRISE_SERVER_EDITION
FILE = /opt/ibm/db2/dirname
LIC_AGREEMENT = ACCEPT
INSTALL_TYPE = COMPLETE
Note: Important: The db2_install command is deprecated and might be removed in a future release. Use the db2setup command instead.
