Hardware, software, and storage requirements for Q replication on Db2 Warehouse

Before you enable Q replication for the Db2 Warehouse service, ensure that you meet the required hardware, software, and storage requirements.

Hardware

Replication is available for Db2 systems running native Kubernetes for X86 processors or Red Hat OpenShift for X86 and Power processors on supported Linux distributions on x86-64 hardware platforms. It is an add-on component for your Db2 Warehouse deployment. Starting with 11.5.8cn-3, Q Replication also supports Power Linux (PPCLE) platform for Db2 Warehouse.
Q Replication now supports IBM Db2U Standalone for OpenShift on x86 and power linux, and
      Native Kubernetes on x86.
In addition to meeting the hardware requirements, you must also meet the following CPU and memory requirements for replication:
CPU
  • 4 to 8 vCPUs per node
Memory
  • 8 to 16 GiB

Software

Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux) must be enabled on your Db2 Warehouse before you enable replication.

Storage

The Db2 Warehouse deployment on which you are enabling replication must use one of the following storage classes:
  • Network File Storage (NFS) storage class.
  • A Spectum Scale storage class.
  • OpenShift Container Storage (OCS) class.
Generally, 100 Gi is a reasonable storage amount, but the amount that you specify depends on the scale of database changes that you plan to replicate.
