Administrative operations on model metadata objects

Administrative operations set up or remove the metadata management repository. Usually, they are called indirectly by SYSINSTALLOBJECTS when a database is enabled, validated, or disabled. In some cases, however, an experienced database administrator calls the administrative operations directly.

Whereas SYSINSTALLOBJECTS suppresses all result sets, administrative operations return result sets that contain informational text.

If SYSINSTALLOBJECTS returns an error message, it might be helpful to call the administrative operations for getting additional information that help solving the problem.

The following list shows the administrative operations that you can do:

  • Create the metadata management repository for an enabled database
  • Determine whether the metadata management repository has been created with the expected version of the metadata objects
  • Remove the metadata management repository from an enabled database
