Monitoring queuing in a customized adaptive workload manager environment
Monitoring queuing with a customized adaptive workload manager environment is similar to monitoring queuing behavior with the default adaptive workload manager environment, but with some important differences.
The queries discussed in Monitoring queuing in a default adaptive workload manager environment are equally relevant in a customized environment. As with the default environment, queries are queued when there are no available resources to admit additional work. Consequently, investigation involves the same steps of identifying the most constrained resources and the top resource consuming activities. However, there is one additional consideration: in a customized environment service class resource assignment might affect the resources that are available to process work that is running in that service class. For example, a service class with hard resource shares queues new work when the service class resource entitlement has been reached even if there is spare capacity in the database. In such cases, granting the service class additional resources usually reduces or eliminates the need for queuing.
