Installing and configuring SQL Tuning Services

Use the information in this section to install and configure the components that comprise an SQL Tuning Services environment.

Setting up the repository database
Use the instructions in this section to create the SQL Tuning Services repository database, which is a Db2 for z/OS database that SQL Tuning Services uses to store tuning metadata.
Setting up the administrator ID and user IDs
This section describes how to create two user-defined functions (UDFs) that are needed by the SQL Tuning Services administrator ID (sqlts_dba_id) and user IDs (sqlts_user_id), how to grant EXECUTE privilege to the UDFs, and how to grant these IDs EXECUTE privileges on packages on the Db2 subsystem.
Setting up the started task ID and creating a key ring for it
Use the instructions in this section to create a functional RACF ID and associate that ID with the SQL Tuning Services started task. After the ID is created, add the ID to an existing key ring or create a new key ring.
Enabling Db2 PassTicket support for SQL Tuning Services
SQL Tuning Services supports the use of RACF® PassTickets as an alternative to using RACF passwords and password phrases. The use of PassTickets removes the need to send RACF passwords and password phrases across the network and eliminates the need for password maintenance for tuning profiles and the repository database. Complete this step only if your environment uses PassTickets.
Installing the SQL Tuning Services server
This section provides instructions for setting up the ID that you will use to install the SQL Tuning Services server, assigning a port for the server, preparing and running the installation script, and starting the server.
Configuring AT-TLS for SQL Tuning Services
SQL Tuning Services supports the use of AT-TLS to provide secure communication. Complete this step only if your environment uses AT-TLS.
Configuring a truststore for all Db2 connections
Complete this task only if you use a Db2 secure port in either the repository database connection or the tuning target connections.
Enabling extended tuning features
Before you can use the extended set of SQL Tuning Services features, you must install the license that is provided with IBM® Db2 Query Workload Tuner for z/OS 6.1.
