Calculating the storage requirement for the common service area

You need to calculate the approximate storage requirement for the common service area (CSA). Under normal conditions, your virtual storage requirements in the CSA (below the 16-MB line) are unlikely to increase.

About this task

In a data sharing environment, if an IRLM performs member recovery or structure rebuilding, additional virtual storage is required. Any other increase in the amount of virtual storage that is needed occurs within the extended private area of the Db2 database address space and the extended private area of the distributed data address space.

Procedure

To calculate the approximate residual requirement for CSA (below the 16-MB line):

  1. Start with up to 40 KB for each Db2 subsystem.
  2. Add 24 KB for each started IRLM.
