Utility changes in Db2 13

• New option: when NOKEYDELETE is specified, LOAD does not delete keys for the logical partition of the NPSI that correspond to the table space partition emptied using SYSREC with an empty data set or DD DUMMY.

When subsystem parameter CDDS_MODE is set to SOURCE_ONLY, and LOAD runs against a compressed table space or partition that contains a table that is defined with DATA CAPTURE CHANGES, LOAD inserts the newly built expansion dictionary into the compression dictionary data set (CDDS). (PH64099)

New option: TABLESAMPLE SYSTEM

When subsystem parameter CDDS_MODE is set to SOURCE_ONLY, and REORG TABLESPACE is run against a compressed table space or partition that contains a table that is defined with DATA CAPTURE CHANGES:

• When a new expansion dictionary is built, the REORG utility inserts the expansion dictionary into the CDDS on successful completion.
• When the INITCDDS option is specified, the table space is not reorganized. REORG inserts the current expansion dictionary from the page set and the prior expansion dictionary from the log into the CDDS. If there is an existing expansion dictionary in the CDDS for the table space or partition that is being reorganized, the existing expansion dictionary is removed before the new dictionaries are inserted.

• When a new expansion dictionary is built, the REORG utility inserts the expansion dictionary into the CDDS on successful completion.
• When the INITCDDS option is specified, the table space is not reorganized. REORG inserts the current expansion dictionary from the page set and the prior expansion dictionary from the log into the CDDS. If there is an existing expansion dictionary in the CDDS for the table space or partition that is being reorganized, the existing expansion dictionary is removed before the new dictionaries are inserted.

Other changes to the compression reports:

• When the REORG option is specified, more rows are sampled when the REORG option is specified.
• When the LOB option is specified, new statistics are added about the deleted LOBs and pages. These statistics give an indication of space that could be reclaimed. All other statistics and compression calculations no longer include deleted LOB data for a more accurate estimate.
• When the LOB option is specified, new statistics are added on compressed and uncompressed LOBs for LOB table spaces that already contain compressed LOBs.
• When the LOB option is specified, a histogram that provides the total number of LOBs of specified sizes and organizes the information in ranges of 500b–4k, 4–8k, 8–16k, and 16–32k is added. The histogram helps when deciding sizing for inline, compression, and buffer pool pages.
• When the LOB option is specified and zEDC compression is unavailable, a report of LOB table space statistics without a compression estimation.

• The LISTDEF utility is enhanced to support specifying table names for Db2 catalog and directory in INCLUDE and EXCLUDE clauses of the LISTDEF control statement. Also, support is added for specifying the SYSUTILX directory table space and table names. (PH66270)

• LOAD PART INDEXDEFER places non-partitioned secondary indexes into rebuild-pending star (RBDP*), making them inaccessible until the logical partitions in RBDP* are rebuilt (PH60627). If the entire partitioned table space is replaced, the entire non-partitioned secondary index is placed into Page set REBUILD-pending (PSRBD).

  LOAD REPLACE SHRLEVEL REFERENCE PART execution results in the default of INDEXDEFER NPI, with the same effect.

• LOAD WHEN is enhanced to support more complex criteria than field-selection-criterion previously allowed. The following criteria are only supported for universal table spaces (UTS):
  • Multiple comparisons with the 'AND' and 'OR' logical operators
  • Comparisons using the '< >' comparison operator
  • Complex selection criteria consisting of combinations of logical operators and comparison operators

• For certain object types, the RECOVER utility is enhanced to support space level recovery (where DSNUM ALL is specified or is the default), even when the image copies were created at the partition or piece level.
• If this utility runs on an XML table space for a table with XML versioning, it can now save the XML table version to the page header for the table space, which can simplify later copying of versioned XML data from one table to another (PH51434).
