INSTALL TYPE field
The value of the INSTALL TYPE field specifies whether you are installing, updating, or migrating to Db2 12, activating a Db2 12 function level, or preparing artifacts for creating services to provision Db2 subsystems.
Acceptable values: | ACTIVATE, INSTALL, UPDATE, MIGRATE , PROVISION |
---|---|
Default: | INSTALL |
DSNHDECP: | none |
- INSTALL
- Specifies that you are installing Db2 for the first time. This is the default value for the first run of the CLIST. After you complete the installation, function level 500 is activated.
- MIGRATE
- Specifies that you are migrating from Db2 11 to Db2 12.
- ACTIVATE
- Specifies that you are activating a Db2
function level. When this option is specified, Db2 prompts you to specify the new function level on
the DSNTIP00 panel. In a data sharing environment, the function level activation process is
completed only once for the data sharing group. The CLIST customizes a minimal job set for
activation of the new function level. Important: Use this option to activate a higher function level only after migration to Db2 12 is complete and Db2 is stable at a particular function level.
- UPDATE
- Specifies that you are updating parameters for an existing Db2 subsystem.
- PROVISION
- Specifies that you are preparing artifacts for creating services to provision Db2 subsystems. When you specify this value panel DSNTIPAP is displayed next in the CLIST panel session. For more information, see Creating artifacts for provisioning Db2 by running the installation CLIST.
If you are updating or migrating, you use the same set of panels that you use for installation. Each panel displays all fields; however, the fields that cannot be changed in update or migrate mode are protected. This way, you can see the values that are related to ones that you want to change.
You can also choose either INSTALL or UPDATE to recheck values you that chose before.
Certain fields cannot be changed during a migration. See panels DSNTIPH, DSNTIPD, DSNTIP7, and DSNTIPP for more information. Ensure that those fields are correct in the data set member that you provide.
