You can merge existing
Db2 subsystems into a single Db2 data sharing group.
Procedure
To merge existing subsystems into a single Db2 data sharing group, complete the following
steps:
-
Choose one of the subsystems to be the originating member.
-
Move data and data definitions from the other Db2 subsystems to the subsystem that you designated
as the originating member.
For more information, see
Moving data that you are merging.
Tip: Use a location alias, remote
applications do not have to change aliases during the merging processes. Remote applications use a
location name to access the
Db2 subsystem.
You can define the previous location names of each subsystem as location alias names for the group.
After the subsystems are merged, remote applications continue to connect, without changes to the
location names in the applications.
For more information, see
Specifying a location alias name for multiple sites.
-
Enable data sharing on the originating member, as described in Enabling Db2 data sharing.
-
Add
the other Db2 subsystems as members of the
data sharing group, as described in Adding a new data sharing member.
