The CFSizer tool

The coupling facility structure sizer (CFSizer) tool simplifies the task of estimating coupling facility structure storage sizes based on information about your existing or planned Db2 data sharing configuration. It uses your inputs to calculate the SIZE and INITSIZE values for the CFRM policy.

To prepare to use the CFSizer tool, collect the following information about your existing or planned Db2 data sharing environment:

Structure Information to collect
IRLM LOCK structure
  • Lock rate in maximum locks per second
  • Number of systems expected to be active in the sysplex at the same time
  • Number of table spaces for all databases managed by the data sharing group
  • Maximum number of users
  • Maximum number of connectors
  • Whether asynchronous duplexing is used
SCA LIST structure
  • Total number of databases
  • Total number of tables
Group buffer pool
  • Page size
  • Number of buffers
  • GBPCACHE type

To access the CFSizer tool for Db2 data sharing, go to https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/cfsizer and select the DB2 option.

After you decide what your structure sizes are, you can include those values in the CFRM policy definition. For more information about creating the CFRM policies, see Defining coupling facility structures.
