Destroying data sharing members
Destroying a data sharing member permanently deletes it from the data sharing group. A destroyed member cannot be restored or reactivated.
Before you begin
Before you destroy a data sharing member, you must deactivate it. See Deactivating data sharing members. If you want to destroy a member that was deactivated and then later reactivated and restarted, you must deactivate it again.
Procedure
To destroy a data sharing member:
- Stop all members of the group.
- Make a backup copy of all the BSDSs in the group.
- Use the DSNJU003 DELMBR DESTROY,MEMBERID=x control statement against all BSDSs of all members of the group, where x is the member ID of the member that is to be destroyed.
- Restart the surviving members. All surviving members should be restarted so that they can record the updated status of the destroyed member.
Results
The member is deleted, and its BSDS and logs are no longer needed.
If you want to reuse the member name of a destroyed member, you must add a new member to the data sharing group. The new member can have the same name and member ID as the member that you destroyed.
