Upgrade IBM Data Server Manager to IBM Db2 Data Management Console

You can upgrade IBM® Data Server Manager v2.1.5.x to IBM Db2® Data Management Console v3.1.x. product which is installed on the same server with similar repository database configuration. The upgrading task has some prerequisites to be met and require some optional manual steps to be performed. You must check and plan your environment and IBM Data Server Manager product before installing IBM Db2 Data Management Console and selecting the upgrade option.

If IBM Data Server Manager was installed on a Linux® server (excluding pLinux) or a Windows server and you decided to install IBM Db2 Data Management Console on the same server, the upgrade operations would be covered within the installation process of IBM Db2 Data Management Console.

For upgrading from one server to another one, a workaround is provided. Currently cross platform upgrade is not supported. However, in some situations, a workaround might help you to migrate data of repository database. For more information, refer to 'Supported upgrade paths'.

An important process of upgrading to IBM Db2 Data Management Console is repository database migration. A new schema is created in the repository database under which a set of tables required by IBM Db2 Data Management Console are also created. Part of the original data in tables of the repository database used by IBM Data Server Manager are loaded into some of the newly created tables.
