Resolving failed verification error in macOS

Symptoms

You get the “macOS cannot verify that this app is free from malware” error message on your screen when you try to open IBM® Db2® Data Management Console on your Mac.

Causes

This is caused by the built-in security feature in macOS called GateKeeper. It is designed to ensure that only trusted software runs on Mac.

Resolving the problem

Prerequisite:

Before downloading IBM Db2 Data Management Console, do the following:
  1. Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. At the bottom of the window, you will see multiple options under Allow apps to be downloaded from option.
  2. Select Anywhere to allow your Mac to download any and all apps.

Procedure

If you receive “macOS cannot verify that this app is free from malware” error message when you try to open IBM Db2 Data Management Console, do the following:

  1. Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General.
  2. Click the Open Anyway button to open the app. The warning prompt reappears.
  3. Click Open.
